I was looking for some straws to AI Tundra with and not finding anything available in the area I happen to be traveling. On my way to pick up another Nigerian, the Hidden Meadows herd was recommended to me by a good friend. While Melanie also was out of straws, she had a few kids that needed placing and we ended up with a great deal on a nice little boy. Norris was just small enough to still fit in the over sized kennel in my little car to make the trip home from Oregon. He is still naturally horned, but we don’t intend to take him to any shows and the price was right. We named him Norris after the Norris Geyser Basin in Yellowstone Nat. Park, a favorite spot to visit.
Norris is not only a wonderful herd sire, but he is doing really well as a hiking companion and pack goat. We really like the idea of having our big boys work form more than just one month our of the year, so the Saanen herd sires starting with Norris will be dual purpose for mountain adventures!
He comes from some lovely Tempo Passa animals with excellent LA and milk production records behind him. I’m excited to have registered Saanen kids from Norris and Tundra in the spring, I think they will blend well for type and production.
